Character.ai is a neural language model chatbot web & mobile application that can generate human-like text responses and participate in contextual conversation. It was constructed by previous developers of Google’s LaMDA, Noam Shazeer, and Daniel De Freitas. The beta model was made available to the public in September 2022.

Character.ai can be used for imagination, brainstorming, and language learning. It allows users to create and interact with bots designed to mimic public figures, fictional characters, certain professionals, and more. The company reportedly has a $1 billion valuation and is seeking up to a quarter of a billion dollars in investor capital.

Character AI Plus is a paid subscription service launched in May of 2023. It was confirmed that the service will cost $9.99 per month, which comes to a total of $120 for a yearly subscription.
